Did you know that to understand and to accept, that calm is a choice and that stress is a choice, can be just one wonderful way of taking back your power? One of the most important decisions we can make in our life is to choose our responses to stress, or anger, or anxiety… We live in the midst of a stress epidemic (it’s called the ‘silent killer’ for a reason) and nothing highlights this more than the lead-up to Christmas. Stress not only reduces kindness and productivity, since we can’t function effectively under duress, but it also impacts our clarity and judgement (people do some questionable things when stressed) then justify it to the hilt.

Oftentimes life can run away from us so we grapple to keep control, we resist the flow and we block our own forward momentum. As we get in our own way, we allow the darkness to envelope us and our own light becomes dull. Nonetheless, we ARE light so our light is lit - it can never be completely extinguished (even if at times it may feel like that). It’s up to us as individuals to fan our inner flame. We must keep our flames going because there’s an undeniable truth that division leads to conflict. In other words, when we are divided in our thoughts (separated) from spiritual truth, darkness finds a way to seep in.
