Hi EveryOne, Happy September.
Hope this email finds you all well and you are all remembering to practice to be your own light 🙂
First, some news to share… I will be back in Leura (Blue Mountains) again – 18th October for a Day Retreat and 19 – 21st for a Weekend Retreat.
You can book here https://www.brahmakumaris.org.au/events/events-in-nsw when bookings are open. Since my retreats are usually booked out, I ask you to please book one or the other – not both – to give others a chance. Thanks for your cooperation in this and I look forward to see you 🙂
My other news… Many of you have asked when my guided meditation cd/mp3 will be available. I hope to have it out end October – YAY me! 🙂 🙂 I was scheduled to record it this weekend but sadly there was a death in the family of the person doing the recording so it has been postponed. But let me know if you are interested and I will send you the link for the mp3 as soon as it is available.
Lastly… Keep an eye on my facebook.com/resoulutions4life as I plan to run weekly Qi Gong classes in the Bay – at the park by the beach, across the road from my workplace – Holistic Healing Haven. It will begin 30th October after my return from Leura. Let me know if you’re interested and I will place you on the list.
…. Now, on with my article 🙂
Be your own light…
With so much darkness in the world as we know it today, are you comfortable to be your own light? This question may appear abstract but the reason I want you to contemplate being your own light is to own your own power! The days of hiding from our own light, our own power, are well and truly over. It’s time to acknowledge and accept our own truth. Plato reminds us “we can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light”. Ignoring, denying or fearing our own light is a rather sad truth that keeps many stuck in disempowering patterns – wondering why they ‘cannot’ change. So I simply wanted to remind you that YOU ARE the light!
Oftentimes life can run away from us so we grapple to keep control, we resist the flow and we block our own forward momentum. As we get in our own way, we allow the darkness to envelope us and our own light becomes dull. Nonetheless, we ARE light so our light is lit – it can never be completely extinguished (even if at times it may feel like that). It’s up to us as individuals to fan our inner flame. We must keep our flames going because there’s an undeniable truth that division leads to conflict. In other words, when we are divided in our thoughts (separated) from spiritual truth, darkness finds a way to seep in. And as Martin Luther King says “darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Understanding (and accepting) that I am the light, I am the peace, I am the power – leaves no room for darkness to enter. If it does, that’s entirely by choice! We have the knowledge, we have the information – now we must apply what we know. Attention to my inner sanctum must be my priority if I am to assure my inner light burns bright, no matter what. If I don’t allow myself to radiate from within I become vulnerable to any external dark forces. So what do I do?… I practice, practice, practice to remain that bright star that shines out into the world. I think bright. I visualise brilliance. I contemplate what it is to sparkle. And I imagine what it would look like to shine bright. Then I do, do, do it! It doesn’t matter if we don’t get it quite right. Success lies in having a go. Actively changing any negative vibration, rather than then letting darkness change me. Otherwise I’m like a sick plant and will get attacked by any and every bug that’s around.
A single candle can dispel the darkness in an instant. Darkness is simply the absence of light so if I experience darkness in my life, I need to re-evaluate my worth and my values, so I can spend time on myself to reignite my own inner flame. Depression, anxiety and ‘modern’ illnesses are rampant – spreading like viruses. So how do I protect myself? By remaining light. Light as in brightness and light as in a feather… Pain – be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual – can be a heavy load to carry, it turns us away from our inner light as we focus more and more on the pain – darkness automatically infiltrates. But there is good news… We can still shine and be happy, regardless how dark life may appear. People often ask me ‘how do you stay so cheerful with all that pain?’… Practice, Practice, Practice 🙂 This enables me to keep a positive and uplifted attitude and allows me to trust that everything has a reason and a season. Adopting a holistic lifestyle and keeping myself busy in spiritual matters, remind me to consistently check and change myself (not others). And though old compulsions may still rear it’s ugly head, practice really does make perfect 🙂
Living in an information age if we don’t put knowledge into practice, we become overloaded. Our mind is our greatest friend when we control it, but it becomes our greatest foe if we let it control us. If we don’t keep our mind busy churning spiritual knowledge – keeping ourselves light and bright by accepting and using our inner power- emotion becomes our default setting and darkness is just around the corner. … So let me BE that light. Let me reignite my inner candle. Let me be that lighthouse for others and let me dispel any darkness by turning inward – for I am the light within 🙂
Question: Do I accept that I am my light? Or do I rely on others to light the way?
Consideration: What am I afraid of that stops me from shining bright?
Action: For the month of September – practice, practice, practice – turning inward to light your own inner candle and to keep burning bright. Practice silence – listen for that inner voice. Practice conscious breathing. Practice unplugging from the external world and plugging into your inner battery pack – your light. Practice plugging into the Divine – the ultimate light. The One who recharges us – don’t look away – face it, and you will be pleasantly surprised 🙂
Lots of love, Annemarie 🙂
