Hi EveryOne
Once again I had to smile when I drew our next power because for me, it couldn’t be more timely. Having been ‘down’ most of last week I have to pull out all stops (all powers) to get going again. This somewhat regular occurrence can be rather frustrating if I allow it to get to me… At times feeling like I just get further and further behind, I feel disillusioned and allow the old ‘impostor syndrome’ to creep back in. However, letting myself get overwhelmed (as I did for a bit this morning) is a waste of time… Not to be hard on myself – but continually checking and changing any feelings of inadequacy or ‘failure’ is essential, if I am to keep moving forward in my own spiritual progress. I’ve come to realise that when I allow myself to entertain any wasteful thoughts, then my next port of call is self pity and all the ‘injustices’ that have happened ‘to me’ come flooding back.
Yes we live in an unjust world, but of what benefit would I be to anyone if I continue to personalise events that are beyond my control. It’s not personal… No-one can hurt me, no-one can insult me – without my permission! If I am truly applying my inner powers than no matter what happens, no matter what others think or say about me and no matter what others do or don’t do, it won’t affect me. Instead, I remain calm and allow heated situations to cool down.
Calm stems from within, not from outside of ourselves. Sure, at times it may help to play some calming music or light a candle, maybe go for a walk on the beach or sit on a mountain top. However, understanding that these wonderful tools are simply stimulants to invoke the calm within – that they are NOT the calm, but I AM Calm – teaches me a lot about my own inner sanctum and inner power. Recognising this difference is rather liberating and saves me a lot of time and energy.
Our 40th Power – Power to be Calm…
Being calm is a virtuous art,
it keeps me loving and sweet inside.
It helps me let go of anger and fear,
while releasing ego and stubborn pride.
Calm is a gentle state of being,
yet powerful beyond all material measure.
It helps cool any heated situations –
Calm is our secret most valuable treasure!
** The Power to be Calm is the ability to stay beyond the influence of any negativity and disillusionment. It means to understand and accept that calm comes from within and no-one or nothing can take that away from me, without my permission.
** I am the Cool Water… No matter how upsetting a situation gets, I have the ability to draw on my inner pond of calmness, to help cool down any frustration or potentially heated event. Remaining cool contributes to harmony and benefits the world.
** Supporting Virtues: Flexibility, Tolerance, Loving, Detached, Resourceful, Carefree, Discernment, Co-operation
Tips:
1. Calm comes from within, therefore practicing meditation helps strengthen your inner power.
2. You don’t need to go anywhere to become calm (though a mountain or lake etc may help) they are simply places that invoke the calm within.
3. Practice being calm to cool down any out-of-control situations.
Questions to churn:
1. What is calm?
2. How do I know when I am calm? How does it feel?
3. How do I know when I’m not calm? How does that feel?
You know, in a world that’s continually heating up, it pays to practice this amazing Power… Remaining cool and calm on the inside, in all situations (though not always easy) is powerful and a wonderful way to co-operate… Thank goodness for our individual Powers :)…. Happy practicing 🙂
Lots of Love Annemarie x
