Power to Appreciate – Part 2…
GreatOzBight

Hi everyone,

Loving greetings from Esperance in WA, where the mercury has reached 38 degrees today. We have been so amazingly fortunate with the weather as we traveled across South Australia into Western Australia. The weather has not reached more than 26 for the majority of the time, which is perfect for driving through the desert. We spent 3 days and 2 nights crossing the Nullabor – releasing many fears from our last experience crossing here – allowing us to have a wonderful journey and enabled us to appreciate our time. Our plan was to stay at ‘Roadhouses’ for safety but ended up enjoying the ‘free’ outback with many other ‘free campers’. So as we settled in on our first night on an amazing cliff where desert meets ocean, we meditated in silence appreciating the beautiful contrast and the ease of the trip so far. Though the body ‘played up’ a little, generally all went well.

Our second night on the Nullabor was spent at a ‘bush camp’ – I appreciated the quiet scenery and the fresh breeze (which kept the flies away 🙂 Once again there were several other campers enjoying the outback so we were not alone. I watched the sun set and sat there for quite some time – till the sky was filled with stars. Appreciating the ‘milky way’ that was lit-up as far as the eye could see, I began to meditate to give thanks as I always do 🙂

So here we are in Esperance (arrived late yesterday) and just had our first swim – I enjoyed the white sands and the aqua blue water (though the Southern Ocean is very cold) it was wonderful… And just to top it off, there was a pod of dolphins playing nearby in the gentle waves not so far from us…. It made me stop and smile and truly appreciate where I was and the determination and courage we each showed to make it work. Which made me think about our Virtues and was once again appreciating the Power they give us when we apply them consistently :)… You know, we had to apply many of them before and throughout our trip which otherwise may have turned out rather disastrous. We all have such amazing Power – and they shine through when we trust our own abilities and apply our own strengths, when we trust the Source of all Power and we trust the drama of life.

Questions to churn on:

– Do I appreciate all I receive (the good and bad) or do I take it all for granted and complain when things go wrong?

– Do I trust my own abilities, do I trust the Source of all Powers, do I trust the drama of life?

– How can I use my other Powers to help me appreciate more?

Lesson: Appreciating everything that comes along – the good and the bad – is to trust that everything in life is accurate – the past, the present and the future.

By the way, we did have many challenges along the way as well, not everything went smooth. For example, Col and I have to get used to each other again when we’ve been staying somewhere with others for a while. So living in small quarters on the road can be quite challenging – there were many disagreements as well as things going wrong with the van/car – but we got through it using our Powers, enabling us to enjoy the trip regardless. It gave us many opportunities to ‘check and change’ ourselves. So what I’m sharing with you is this – no matter what is happening – we can appreciate it or we can get caught up. By appreciating everything, the bad turns good and the good becomes even better 🙂

Lots of love Annemarie
