BE the Change….

The end of a year is always a wonderful time for reflection. Equally important is to steady ourselves so to flow into the new year with confidence and ease. So lets start this wonderful new year by looking within, to see where I as an individual can BE the Change, in my own life and collectively around the globe 🙂

There’s a lot of talk around about mindfulness and spirituality – which is fantastic because people are awakening to truth – though reality shows the huge discrepancy between genuine experience and lip service. Doing something practically based on new information gives life experience. Talking about what we think we know without actual practical proof, is not only hearsay, it can be dangerous. So here is a good opportunity to check yourself (with love and gentleness) – are you authenticating your spiritual understanding by being an example in motion? Or are you too busy talking about it? Here is how you know the difference… When you quietly accept that it’s up to you to change (regardless of how others behave) you will feel humbled by that understanding and therein lies a bit of peace. On the other hand, intellectual understanding leaves you criticising, blaming and judging others. I certainly am no expert on politics nor do I wish to be but I am very interested in clarity, truth and BEing that Change. So pay attention because politics aren’t limited to parliament – politics live and even thrive in regular life situations, given half a chance – it’s sneaky and insidious.

Today many women are stepping up and taking charge, which is fantastic and necessary. However, I still see many ‘systems’ of control and very little self control! Women and indeed, many people are actively breaking down systems but if we don’t pay attention, we risk creating our own systems of abusing power. Perhaps not intentionally at first but certainly as time passes, will the evidence outweigh the promises!… Often enslaved by our own ignorance, denial or justifications – too blind to see our own contributions to the perpetuation of a cycle of violence and abuse of power – we remain under the guise of ‘inclusiveness’.  But where there is denial there are hidden weaknesses that fear exposure, covered up and protected at all cost. And where there are hidden agendas, there will be lies and deception… When we feel threatened, we inadvertently block others and ourselves from moving forward). The fear of being exposed, if not monitored, becomes a form of control and dictatorship.

The face of leadership needs a makeover and we are equally responsible for that change because we are all leaders, in some form, in our life! So lets show others that a different way – a more self loving, non-violent, inclusive way – is possible. There is no need to use aggression, to be seen or heard. It’s time to stop pointing the finger of blame elsewhere. Actually, the more I embrace and balance my feminine energy with my masculine energy, the more I love my role as a woman and a leader for change. So regardless of gender, religion, age, culture, colour or lifestyle preferences – we each need to work on our own inner balance to restore peace. You see, when inner love is lacking the world is in trouble, because this inner war spills out into our life and out into our streets. Whether male or female, adult or child we must stop any inner violence, as a means to change our environment.

A truly powerful leader consistently authenticates self love and self respect – instead of expecting others to change, they constantly work on themselves – to be that example! So to BE the Change we need to accept our own leadership qualities. When there is spiritual love within, the world will live in peace. Peace is cool. Peace is to break any pattern of violence (heat) within ourselves – fire cannot be fought with fire – it can only be cooled by water (love). So lets stop competing with or comparing ourselves to others. Lets stop buying into the games others. And lets stop our own political games of self-deception and justification. Lets stop the confusion and complications, and lets start this new year with LOVE. Love for the self. Love for others. Love for our environment. Women are the ‘nurturers’ of the world – our role is to nurture and support growth – not fight! Men are the ‘protectors’ of the world – their role is to protect and serve – not fight! Children are the future of the world – their role is to create wonder  and joy – not fight!

It’s easy to say ‘it’s not my fault’ as we point the finger of blame at the leaders of the world, at our parents, our partners, our children, our neighbours, our conditioning…  This year, lets use our courage and loving determination to step up and take the reins of our own life. Lets aim to be different, with honestly in our hearts. Honesty, by the way, doesn’t make us weak – throwing stones from the safety of our glass houses, does. I’m learning to restore peace, no longer through ‘fighting for my rights’ but rather, I am continually working on removing the war from within myself by slowly restoring self love and self respect. I’m learning to stop beating myself (stop the cycle of violence), to stop comparing myself to others (stop the ‘not good enough’ syndrome) and to accept 100% responsibility for my life as it is today. Leading from the heart helps others feel good about themselves. And when we feel good about ourselves we can be generous as we lead others to discover their own unique strengths and purpose. So lets BE the Change, starting right now!

Question:  Do I accept 100% responsibility for my life as it stands today?

Consideration: How might I be able to stop blaming others for my lot in life and accept responsibility, so I can lead by example?

Action:  For the month of January,  look for any opportunity to BE the Change – no matter how small. Do NOT wait around for applause (expect praise). Instead do something altruistic (give without expecting a return) then move on.   And remember – a good leader will NEVER ask anyone to do or say anything that they are not prepared to do or say themselves!…

Lots of love,  and may you bring your dreams into reality this year, Annemarie x
