Keeping it Practical…

Hi EveryOne, Since we are already in May, I wanted to bring your attention to the power of keeping it practical – that is, spiritual awareness and strength is a ground-level practise – it’s not some vague, insubstantial, idealistic concept.

First, some news…

Our Lotus Belle tent is looking amazing and will be ready for my Holistic Health Practice ‘The Healing Hut’ (where I will also offer small classes / workshops / day retreats) soon. Though the move has not all been smooth sailing, we kept going nonetheless, and the rewards are amazing. It’s exciting to see how far we’ve come in such a short time (I’m not known to do things by halves haha) 🙂 We love being here (Burgowan) and are grateful that the Estate Agent and Owner of our property have been really helpful…  Secondly, I’m soooo enjoying my Hoop Coaching Course and will be offering beginners classes for seniors and anyone with pain, in a couple of months (I may even implement some gentle hoop-dance into my Meditation on the Move classes) 🙂 If you’re local to Hervey Bay and ready to add some fun into your life through holistic healing of the hoop, let me know and I’ll keep you notified.

On ‘Keeping it Practical’ – don’t let emotion get in the way of your own healing, growing and standing in your power.  Don’t let it block you from doing your regular inner housekeeping – sorting and decluttering any unresolved baggage that is best taken out with the trash rather than to keep lugging it around. Living practically, enables you to let go of that which does not serve your higher good (or the higher good of those around you) so you can travel light. Keeping it Practical helps you to release the old to let in the new, without drastic upheaval.

Change can be uncomfortable but it doesn’t need to be chaotic and stressful – that’s a choice we rarely recognise as our own. When we realise and accept that the only constant in life IS change – we can learn to flow with it (rather than fight against it or pretend it isn’t happening). Fact is, change happens around us and within us – all day, every day. We can’t prevent it! So no matter how awkward – it pays to get comfortable with the uncomfortable. To stretch ourselves just enough to get out of our own way and step out of our comfort zone. Life gets easier when we live our learning (true meaning of experience). And it’s in this practical experience that we gain wisdom, enabling us to let go… Let go of the past. Let go of expectation. Let go of anger and fear. Let go of blame. Let go of control… That’s not to say life will always be smooth sailing – of course not. But liberating ourselves from self deception keeps us humble – strengthening our ability to cope and help us prepare better for life – and its sudden shifts. Turning (what can be a sickening rollercoaster ride) into a smoother journey of daily situations – one simply flowing into the other. Practical living is to put into practice what we know – not theorise and philosophise about what we think we know.

Talk is cheap and can be downright dangerous – it creates arrogance, judgement and insecurity. Believing our own words stifles our intentions – instead of putting knowledge into practical action – we make excuses and point the finger of blame elsewhere…. ‘I would, if only…’ ‘I could, but…’  Too many unfinished projects impacts our confidence, our motivation, our relationships, our health and wellbeing.  Our hearts and minds clutter over and we can’t see a way forward. Practice allows us to see clearer because we do what we say we will do – we finish what we start – we walk our talk. Rather than busy ourselves preaching to others, we simply just get on with it. Practice brings experience and experience brings wisdom, allowing for healthier choices and clearer decisions. Life begins to unwind, turning complicated situations into manageable and doable chunks.

‘Understanding’ life on an intellectual level doesn’t mean we ‘get it’ – intellectual understanding (talking about what we think we know) won’t get us very far.  We must apply what we learn. We must act on (play out) our beautiful inner creations if we are to see practical proof in our lives. Scientists need proof for evidence – and contrary to popular belief – being practical is NOT boring. It’s an art, a science, an inner power (strengthened through practice) – it’s self evident. It is so powerful in fact, that it propels us in whatever direction we wish to go! Dreaming is great but to set a goal and achieve it, takes practical application. Change is the only constant in our magnificent world and in order to enjoy life, we must embrace it… Complaining resolves nothing. Worrying resolves nothing. Self pity resolves nothing. Getting weighed down by emotion only serves to render our practical skills ineffective. Practical living means I get the job done with a loving heart, regardless how I feel. Intention is not enough, we must put action behind it to consolidate it. If I want joy, I must create it. If I want peace, I must be it. If I want stability in my life I must monitor and stabilise my own thoughts, so I can flow with this ever-changing scenery called life.

Question: Do I do as I say (walk my talk)?  If not, why not?

Consideration: Why do I find it easier to talk about change rather than to BE that change?

Action: This month practice gaining valuable experience through experimenting with whatever you are learning, as a means to flow with change. Practice balancing BEing with DOing. Don’t speak about what you should or could be doing, instead practice being silent – then do what you can and let go of what you can’t.  Think before you speak and keep it realistic! With practice – the more you do, the less you need to speak about it or prove it to others – because your actions will speak for themselves 🙂

Happy practicing everyone, love Annemarie x
