Flexibility is the Power I’m cultivating for the month of November.
Flexibility is like bamboo – strong yet supple. In Eastern culture, bamboo is revered for its durability, strength, flexibility and resilience – surviving in the harshest conditions while remaining tall and evergreen throughout the year.

Bamboo’s powerful qualities are a wonderful reminder that the secret to a long happy life is to ‘go with the flow’. Remaining flexible in life means that storms may bend me, but  will not break me.

Flexibility is to remain stable, while constantly moving. Many years ago when I trained in the Martial Art of Karate, we were often reminded of the importance of remaining flexible like bamboo – rigidity causes friction and therefore pain. Now living on the open road, promoting spirituality, it pays to remain flexible. This is not to say that we don’t plan ahead but to let go of any outcome, knowing there is always benefit in this wonderful drama of life… Which powers do you have sitting inside just waiting to be noticed?

Action:  Sit quietly for just 60 seconds, turning inward – deep inside. Take a few slow deep breaths, then form the question – ‘which power would be most beneficial for me to practice today, for the week or the month?’… we all have many inner jewels (cultivating one at a time is practical and doable). Listen for the silence, then listen to your awareness… maybe it’s simplicity, maybe it’s cooperation, maybe it’s tolerance or courage, maybe it’s letting go, maybe it’s enthusiasm or unconditional love. Then make every effort (look for opportunities) to apply this power.  Don’t wait till you need the power, do it because you want to 🙂
