Hi EveryOne, Happy October.

First some news – before I go into my article – ‘Energy flows’ … I will be away for a couple of weeks to run a couple of retreats at our beautiful retreat centre, in Leura (blue mountains). I believe there is still a few spots for the day retreat on 18th Oct, but the weekend retreat is currently fully booked and overflowing – so for those who managed to get a spot – I look forward to see you soon 🙂

My guided meditation cd/mp3 recording was postposed to 10th November, so will let you know once I have it in my hot little hands… And lastly – I started a MeetUp group in Hervey Bay and will begin a weekly 1hour Relaxation class (combining Qi Gong, gentle  meridian Yoga, Meditation, Tapping & Self Shiatsu) on 2nd November. This will be followed in early 2019 with a free Raja Yoga meditation class. To become a member of the MeetUp group, here is the link – https://www.meetup.com/Hervey-Bay-Holistic-Health-Wellbeing-Group/  (though you don’t need to be a member to join our gatherings) it will just keep you informed of any local events.

Energy Flows…

“Where attention goes… Energy flows… Result shows”… There’s been lots of studies done on energy and focus, as indeed, our thoughts are the seeds of our actions. So pay attention to whatever you focus on and constantly think about – as this is what you can bring into your life. If you live your life in a state of continual aimless motion, manically going in circles but achieving very little,  check what thoughts you’re creating to see where your energy is flowing. You may benefit from delving deeper into yourself, to understand that your own thinking can be making or breaking anything you’re wanting to achieve… It also pays to recognise that most of us have a bit of a default setting – a conditioning that has us focusing on the negative – which we need to change consciously if we are to use our inner power for the higher good. We are not taught to use our mind to uplift and heal, but rather, to control and manipulate.  Hence, energy stagnates and emotion blocks opportunity. Meanwhile expectation, conforming & blaming becomes the norm (constantly drip-fed by our own irrational thoughts). Time to consciously change our individual thinking processes.

Critical thinking, reflective thinking, creative thinking, lateral thinking, meditation – are all forms of using our minds consciously – and can dramatically help us  turn our lives around. It helps us clear any blocked energy and enables us to clear any obstruction – be it physical, mental, emotional, spiritual – be it of our own accord or due to external influences. In other words, our minds are so powerful, we have the ability to create, and certainly, the ability to destroy! So what are you thinking about?… Who is living rent free in your mind? … Where is your attention drawn?…  Is it pulled towards all things good or is it magnetised to the million and one things you can’t control?  Wherever our attention goes, is definitely where our energy flows, and certainly life will reflect the results. So where is your energy? Is it flowing in the direction you want?…  If not, what are you doing about it?

The basis of Einstein’s creative genius, was his 2 hour rule. He would barricade himself in his study and spend hours in silence – thinking, analysing,  reflecting and creating. Charles Darwin too was known to have a ‘thinking path’, as did Friedrich Nietzsche, who spent hours at a time just wandering through nature – thinking and ruminating – even daydreaming… But sadly today these kinds of behaviours are chastised as unproductive and time wasting. Yet delving deeper, the reality is that it actually is very productive to give ourselves permission to spend a few hours a day or week to just sit and ponder and daydream and think.  This is a wonderful exercise to not only help us slow down but to help us check if we’re going in the right direction, and to change what we need to change within ourselves to ensure the right flow and to move forward. Daydreaming (as with reflective thinking) keeps us from falling in a rut. Meditation keeps us from staying stuck in a system of vacuous existence and aimless motion – it helps us clear any and all obstructions…

Our greatest teachers are our own actions (if we choose to pay attention and listen to how our actions actually make us feel).  You know, interacting with others can be a messy business if we don’t have a handle on self awareness. Self awareness simply means to own our ‘own stuff’ – to not deny, ignore or dismiss but to check our own energy levels – like checking our car for oil and water so to not be left stranded. Self awareness means we won’t be derailed by old disempowering beliefs and patterns nor by the beliefs, opinions or behaviours of others… Lets face it, we all have ‘stuff’ to clear but when we choose to ignore or deny our own, focusing on blame for example, then we will remain stuck (and attract more of the same). That’s how focus works!… As Brahma Kumaris we live by strict principles, as a means to change ourselves. One of these principles is that “our attitude creates a vibration and this vibration shapes our environment”… In other words, our attention and intention (our thoughts) are made up of energy that uphold our attitude.  And it’s this vibration  that shapes our world.

If we could physically see this vibration – what would we do differently???……..

Question: Do I give myself permission to think, daydream and meditate regularly? If not, why not?

Consideration:  What is so important that I can’t give myself this important time?

Action:   For the month of October, spend time alone – in silence, in nature. If you struggle with just letting your mind wander peacefully, you can ask yourself some questions to reflect on. Simply let your mind focus on the question/s until you have no questions left. It’s in the silence after you’ve run out of questions, that clarity often happens (if only we allowed ourselves to work through it).

Here are a couple of questions to start you off…

  • Am I going the right way?   – What is my purpose / my aim – in life, in my relationships, at work?
  • Am I happy doing what I am doing?… If not, what am I doing about it?
  • What are my priorities?… Am I a priority?

Lots of love,      Annemarie 🙂
