Hi Everyone, here we are 3 weeks into spring, though here in Townsville it feels like we’ve skipped spring altogether and gone straight into summer.

Earlier on I mentioned that the more we strengthen our inner lie detectors, the easier it is to trust others – I wanted to extend on this a little by exploring our intuition. Did you know that when our intuition is weak (due to no exercise) we can easily be tricked and incautiously believe the empty words of others. So it stands to reason that I strengthen my intuitive abilities by becoming perceptive and far-sighted. This means I must pay close attention and observe! The more I Trust my intuition, the more empowered I am to act in a rational and constructive way. The more objective I am the happier I will be as there will be less complications. When I Trust my ‘gut feeling‘ about a person or situation I can make cognitive decisions and choices (this is not a question of judging the behavior of another but about Trusting myself). You see, often when a few mistakes have been made or promises been broken, we lose Trust in our own ability to Judge and Discern, and we are therefore unable to Trust what others say. Words are cheap in a world of throw-away lines. Remaining true to myself by consistently backing my words with positive action, strengthens my intuition and as such Trust will not be an issue for me. However, others may still choose not to Trust me – that’s ok, that’s their choice – it has nothing to do me with and so I do not take it personal.

I found the following Abstract from research that was undertaken by the University of Toronto Mississauga in Canada, which demonstrates my point about Trust…

Abstract… “This research used a job interview context to investigate the relationship between peoples’ degrees of generalized trust—their default assessments of the likely trustworthiness of others—and their ability to detect lies. Participants watched videos of eight simulated job interviews: Half of the interviewees were completely truthful; half told a variety of lies to make themselves more attractive job candidates. Contrary to lay wisdom, high trusters were significantly better than low trusters were at detecting lies. This finding extends a growing body of theoretical and empirical work suggesting that high trusters are far from foolish Pollyannas and that low trusters’ defensiveness incurs significant costs.”

Question: Do I listen to my intuition or do I become short-sighted when dealing with others?
Tip: Having complete Trust in yourself lightens the burden of Trusting others.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I look forward to your contributions and hear about your experiences.

Love Annemarie
