Power of Simplicity  (Powers Study Group)

Power Simplicity

Hi everyone,

Again I had to smile big when I pulled our next Power – I know we’ve all been challenged in many different ways so far – but how else do we change if we never leave our comfort zone – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually? So remember to regularly pat yourself on the back – if you find that too difficult please let me know and I’ll be sure to remind you of the amazing task you are undertaking… Self Change (at least from my experience) has to be one of the most difficult things to do in life – but the most rewarding… Persistence really does pay – and with regular practice it gets easier.  So after meditating on which Power would be most useful to help us integrate and consolidate our re-discovered powers so far – here is our 12th Power….

Our 12th Power is the 14th Jewel – Power of Simplicity – page 113….

‘The beauty of Simplicity – power to feel free,
liberated from the chains that enslave me.
Compelled to please others or appease my own mind,
change starts with me, so first to myself I will be kind.
To play in the wind or by the sandy shore,
to stand in the raindrops getting drenched to the core;
to observe a child admiring a butterfly,
or sit under under a bright… sparkling… starry sky…
so remember; accept and give thanks for the little things –
you’ll be amazed at what Wonder life brings’

** The Power of Simplicity is the ability to keep life uncomplicated no matter what. Even when there is chaos, Simplicity teaches me to keep things simple – my thoughts, my words and definitely my actions. It means to declutter my life and minimise any complications by keeping a clear focus on my higher purpose. Keeping things simple allows me to never compromise my spiritual values and always lets me return to basics – back to my essence – to recenter and therefore not lose my way.

** I am the child… my innocence and my innate knowing that I have a right, allows me to keep life simple. I have no expectations, I have nothing to proof, I carry no burden and I am grateful for all I have. I keep life simple, easy and fun.

** Supporting Virtues: Flexible, Carefree, Cheerful, Appreciative, Economical, Imaginative

Tips:
1.  You don’t need possessions or a high status to proof yourself – humility is simplicity.
2. Keep sight of the little things – these are the things that give life meaning – the things we miss when we get too caught up in life as life passes us by.
3. Simply let go of anything complicated (you will know when it gets complicated when you become angry, stressed, frustrated, upset, fearful, teary etc…. LET IT GO!

Questions to churn:
1. Do I buy things as I need them or do I accumulate for the sake of it – ‘just in case’?
2. Do I give myself regular time out to play?
3. Do I stop myself from having fun because I worry about what others think?

The Power of Simplicity is another beautiful power and a little simpler to apply than some of the other powers. However, simplicity still takes mindfulness as per all our powers, but simplicity allows us to have a little fun – not that we can’t have fun with our other powers, of course we can – but while we are still recovering and learning about them we can become rather serious and heavy. Sadly when we become too serious most have a tendency to give up – but I urge you to keep going – there is light at the end of the tunnel. You are that light so be light hearted, laugh at yourself and the silliness of life’s complications (that we have created or at least contributed to). Simplicity means just to keep it simple so we can keep on shining – as all children are meant to 🙂

So may you Special Sisters Keep it Simple this week – Lots of love Annemarie xx
