WonderFull Living Newsletter – 2nd April

Hi EveryOne,

It’s been a while, I hope you are all well and staying safe.  As I started to write this article I remembered writing a similar piece last year and realised that for whatever reason, I didn’t finish it.  And I’ve long learnt to not question or force situations that require me to wait… Turns out current times are more fitting for the title – Keep Calm and Keep Going!

First some news…

  • With many around the world in lock down and self isolation, there’s a lot of anguish and anger as the gravity of the covid19 virus is sinking in. Since my Holistic Practice – like so many other businesses, large and small – came to an abrupt halt I’ve decided to offer some online classes to stay connected and give support through the unknown journey ahead. As I’m stepping out of my comfort zone be gentle with me. Here is the link to my new youtube channel. It’s not for public viewing yet but if you know someone who can use this help, by all means share the link 🙂  https://youtu.be/cT-NoAbcLqQ
  • Brahma Kumaris worldwide are giving more time to sit in meditation, to help spread light and love around our planet (this is on top of our normal early morning and evening meditation). Different timetables for different zones means that someone somewhere is keeping a vigil of positive thoughts and sending out love and light. If you want to be a part of this healing project, I’ve created our own timetable, see link here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13gttzum2FFeZRfU2qSU6WHaX9GoPGvbensz4c9vF6oU/edit#gid=0   Everyone is responsible for their own hours, so only choose times you know you can commit to. And be sure to listen to the last meditation in the video above as this will help give you something to focus on 🙂

Keep Calm… Keep Going!

Did you know that Britain’s world war 2 propaganda slogan ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’  (apparently never seen by the public) was one of 3 posters that would be issued to stop any panic, if war broke out?  Life has interesting ways of presenting us with timely (often harsh) lessons. People all around the globe are being forced into awakening, as we are each thrown out of our comfort zones comprised of multiple layers. Each with our own coping mechanisms – some healthy, most not. Because fear is given a space to fester inside, our defences are up, our emotions are heightened – ready to explode or implode. And old patterns are rising up to challenge us. Regardless whether we think it’s fair or not, change is happening at a fast pace, accelerating by the hour. So don’t be complacent and wait for others to change – take control and do the right thing for the higher good of all concerned. The longer we drag our feet the longer it will take to recover – physically, mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually. Yesterday is gone and for many, tomorrow may not come – but we still have today! If you haven’t already started on your path of change, now is probably a really good time to start.

Don’t make time ‘your teacher’ for this means to wait until we are forced to change. Lets not wait for time to force our hand. We are in the confluence of change – a time of unrest between ‘war and peace’ – and it hasn’t peaked yet. But time = change so if we wait too long, life instantly becomes more complicated.  But change always brings new possibilities and opportunities so look for and embrace those times, as a means to not focus on the negative. Accepting change enables us to flow and manage life better while trying to make some sense (find some meaning) in this ’sudden’ catastrophe. Often we get so affected by our own emotional storms that we become victims in our own stories. Caught in a rip we desperately cling to the familiar. Letting fear rule our attitude will blindside us to our own anger, judgements, justifications, self pity and excuses. Practicing to keep an uncluttered mind  and an open heart helps us see more clearly  and helps us be cooperative and kind.  So if you fall down,  get up. If you fall down again, get back up again… and again… and again… and again!  Tolerance enables us to accept  what we can’t change and gives us courage to change what we can. It brings resilience and this allows us to keep calm and and keep going.

Question:   Do you remain calm and keep moving forward when confronted with abrupt change or do you allow emotions to overwhelm you?

Contemplation:  Why do you think you might get overwhelmed?

Action:   For the next month whenever faced with a choice to change – or be changed – stop, breathe and become the observer for a few moments. Check your thoughts, assess the situation and take stock. Look for and focus on the many possibilities, then use your courage to seize  the opportunities. When obstacles (tests) arrive (and they will because it’s their job) be prepared. Instead of hiding, rise up and meet them head on.  Move forward and pat yourself on the back. Recognise your own triggers and release them through your breath. Don’t get stuck on ‘analysing’ the triggers or rationalising them. Just recognise and release… Recognise and release. Brahma Kumaris call it ‘checking and changing’ (no point just checking, we must change).

Happy practicing everyone, love Annemarie x
