Power to Face (Revision) – Part 2

Hi EveryOne,

With limited time rather than get frustrated, I’m focusing on my motto of  ‘what I put into self transformation is what I get out of it’. This power has seen me through so much – facing problems and fears head-on has taught me a lot about courage and indeed about life, relationships and change. Mainly that when faced, most fears turn out to be nothing more than paper tigers – they are irrational and based on emotion…

I’m currently juggling several things as we transition into the next chapter of our lives. And though it’s been unsettling, I find having my many different powers at the ready always helps me shift my life so much easier. Ignoring life lessons hoping they’ll go away is futile. They come to all of us and usually at the most inconvenient time – no-one is spared but we can be prepared 🙂 When we learn to accept and embrace our lessons as individual checking points rather than fearful situations. And when we take a daily step forward with one of our powers, we won’t get dragged through the mud of emotions as we otherwise might. Instead we learn and grow and get over ourselves faster – saving ourselves and those around us a lot of anguish… Ask yourself – do I invite my lessons willingly, knowing they’re inevitable and I’m well prepared? Or do I run and hide till I’m forced to face whatever it is I’ve been putting off, due to being careless about the condition of my own power?…

Having had to say ‘no’ a bit lately as a way of self care (though still challenging) it’s so much easier now that I’m understanding and accepting my own true value. I now invite my lessons gracefully rather than resist them. It’s uplifting and freeing ability has enabled me to take another huge step forward in my own growth while allowing others space to do the same in theirs 🙂

Questions to churn on:

– Am I assertive (able to say no without guilt or aggression – but with love}? If not, why not?

– Is it easy or difficult for me to face my lessons in life? Why?

– Which areas in my life will benefit from me applying this power more?

Lesson: Fear is an emotion borne out of the human survival instinct… Originally fear was used as a survival response aka the fight or flight response.  Our instincts would alert us that we were in danger. Adrenalin would kick in enabling us to stand and fight or flee the scene. Then once the danger past, cortisol would be produced to calm all bodily systems down, back to their regular functions. These stress hormones when out of balance, can cause chaos, fear and irrational reactions. Simply deciding to ‘feel the fear but do it anyway’ can make facing a situation that much easier… To not deny any fears but to not let them mentally block my path either. For the only person standing in my way is me. And me standing in my own way simply cannot be an option!  To Face means to take conscious action (to make a decision and commit to it).

Here are 10 quotes about courage from different viewpoints 🙂

1. Thinking will not overcome fear but action will ~ W. Clement Stone

2. We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light ~ Plato

3. I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear ~ Rosa Parks

4. Fear stifles our thinking and actions. It creates indecisiveness that results in stagnation. I have known talented people who procrastinate indefinitely rather than risk failure. Lost opportunities cause erosion of confidence, and the downward spiral begins ~ Charles Stanley

6. I think fearless is having fears but jumping anyway ~ Taylor Swift

7. What is needed, rather than running away or controlling or suppressing or any other resistance, is understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to learn about fear, not how to escape from it ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti

8. I know that each of us has much to do. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the tasks we face. But if we keep our priorities in order, we can accomplish all that we should. We can endure to the end regardless of temptations, problems, and challenges ~ Joseph B. Wirthlin

9. We are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems ~ Lee Iacocca

10. The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny ~ Albert Ellis

Happy ‘facing’ – lots of love Annemarie…
