Hi EveryOne and welcome to the new year,
FriendsPalmTree

I hope you have already started the new year on a wonderful footing with this fantastic Power. I sent it to you with part 3 of Power to be Practical to get you started, as I was away over the ‘new year’ break. I’ve been churning on this Power a lot while away and though I’m reasonably flexible, I realised that there’s always room for improvement. I also realised that the times over the past year, that didn’t run as smooth as I would have liked, was because I was lacking this Power. Of course, this is not to be hard on ourselves but to acknowledge where change is necessary without excuse or reason, otherwise it’s too easy to point the finger of blame elsewhere and stop learning. When we don’t learn we don’t grow and when we don’t grow, we risk falling back into our comfort zone – an area that takes much effort and motivation to get out of – so you don’t want to unconsciously slip back into it again. The Power to be Flexible works very well with our Power to be Practical – it’s difficult to be practical without being flexible and vice versa – without the other we get lost in irrational emotion.

Our 39th Power – Power to be Flexible…

Flexibility is not just of body,
but equally important of mind.
Remaining light in our attitude,
enables us to be honest and kind.
Strong like the muscles of an athlete,
yet supple as a tropical palm tree.
Flexibility gives strength where needed,
allowing me to be totally free!
Free from the dictates of others,
free from my own negative traits.
Empowering all to be true to themselves,
as anger and fear abates!

** The Power to be Flexible is the ability to keep an agile attitude, no matter what. To be able to ‘step’ lightly yet firmly around any situation without fear of stumbling, gives me the strength and courage to be myself while empowering others.

** I am the Athlete… I constantly train, both on the field and off. I strengthen my body as well as my mind, so I remain flexible in all ‘terrain’ and all kinds of ‘weather’ and am prepared for any circumstance.

** Supporting Virtues: Determination, Tolerance, Generosity, Calm, Focus, Happy, Strong, Easy-going, Co-operation

Tips:
1. Flexibility does not mean being a push-over.
2. Flexibility gives balance between discipline and freedom
3. Flexibility allows you to ‘bend’ down to help others up, without compromising yourself.

Questions to churn:
1. Do you experience a balance of discipline and freedom in your life? If not, why not?
2. Do you understand the difference between being flexible and being a push-over?
3. Are you flexible in your attitude or are you rigid?

As I am a bit of a stubborn and slow learner, I tend to repeat some mistakes before I learn – often in harsher than necessary circumstances (sound familiar to anyone?)… My aim for this year is to not repeat the same mistakes because to be honest, I’m tired of doing it hard. So to be Flexible I must remain light and easy – starting with my own learning habits – it’s of no use to beat myself up, that gets me nowhere fast!… In our Spiritual class this morning, it was suggested to ‘tug my own ears’ as a way to pull myself up whenever I catch myself making a mistake. I’m going to give it a try, after all, I’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain – you never know if you don’t have a go 🙂

I would love to hear what you’re going to try this year to stop yourself from making the same mistake twice.

Have a great week and an even greater year,
Lots of Love Annemarie x
